What Are the Main Differences Between the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and the 2024 CX-90?
April 11 2024,
It’s no secret that the new 2025 Mazda CX-70 is closely related to the 2024 CX-90. In fact, both models share the same platform, mechanical elements, and most of their design features. Nevertheless, there are some significant differences that make both of them stand out in their own way. Here is an overview of these aspects.
With or without a third row
Of course, the main difference between the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and the 2024 Mazda CX-90 can be found inside, as the new CX-70 only has two rows of seats while the CX-90 has three. This means that the CX-70 can accommodate up to five passengers and the CX-90 can seat either six, seven, or eight people, depending on the selected trim level and interior configuration. Being able to transport more passengers obviously makes the CX-90 the ideal choice for large families, but let’s not forget that the CX-70 benefits from the same generous cargo space being the rear seats, making it a great option for buyers who need a lot of interior space but don’t necessarily need to transport more than four passengers at the time.
A sportier design for the CX-70
The new 2025 Mazda CX-70 also stands out from the 2024 CX-90 thanks to its more dynamic appearance, which is achieved by the use of gloss black accents in place of chrome all around the exterior. Exclusive alloy wheel designs also make the CX-70 look more dynamic than the CX-90, which favours traditional elegance instead, with its chromed accents and lighter overall theme. Inside, the CX-70 continues to stand out with its available red leather upholstery, along with the black and Windsor tan options that are shared with the CX-90. Speaking of which, the CX-90 also offers a unique interior option: Pure white leather with light maple wood accents.
Different pricing structures
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 and the 2024 Mazda CX-90 also differ slightly in terms of pricing, with the CX-70 being a bit more affordable than the CX-90 when comparing similarly equipped trim levels. Interestingly, the CX-90 is actually the more affordable option overall thanks to its entry-level GS version, which doesn’t have an equivalent in the CX-70 lineup. This means that families who need a lot of space for passengers and cargo can benefit from all of the advantages of the new Mazda SUVs for less than it might seem.
